Detroit vs. San Diego
World series 2008, The mlb.com predictions are in and as usual I can’t count out the other guy. First off I will put out on the record that I have been a Tiger fan my whole life I was born April 3rd at the start of baseball season 1981. While at the age of 3 some might say I would be too young to remember, however I feel like I remember the sounds of the game from my crib and the sounds of my parents cheering when gibby hit that home run to seal the deal. At least I think?
When Seth Smith made the last strikeout of the World Series I made my yearly prediction. This year my “guess” was the Cubs 100 year anniversary and tigers 1908 World Series rematch. However after considering what was written on mlb.com and the fact is that lately you just can’t count the other guy out. This happened with the tigers 2 years ago, it happened with the Rockies last year and no one thought the white socks would have the post season record that they had. You can’t count out the other guy. Perhaps I am just that guy that will root for the underdog all the time. The Cubs seem to be that underdog at that time when I made that prediction now with what the manager’s picks for what teams will make it to the world series are in I see that not everyone has counted the cubs out but everyone has counted out the Padres. With Maddux pounding out fast balls now like never before they should be a tough contender for the season and even the post season and don’t forget how close they were with that wild card. The Rockies just edged them out in a controversial baseball fashion. I will stand by my Detroit prediction perhaps due to the fact that I am a Tigers fan or maybe due to the fact that they made some of the right trades during the winter break. So will we see the 1984 rematch of the World Series that I wish so hard for solid memories of, or will it be a run for other under dogs like KC, Tampa Bay, Florida or Pittsburgh. I will look forward to seeing how this will play out.
